Coronavirus and Library Services

Welcome back, Lumberjacks!

The Ralph W. Steen Library is the hub of learning, teaching and research on campus. We have been carefully planning how to adapt our spaces and services so that we can continue to support you. Please continue to refer back to this page as the semester progresses.

Personal responsibility will be the most critical factor in keeping our campus safe this fall. Please remember to:

1. Maintain physical distancing

2. Wear a mask or face covering

3. Practice proper hand washing

4. Clean surfaces

5. Stay home if you're sick or you've been instructed to isolate/quarantine

Steen Library is open and observing adjusted hours. Current, students, staff, and faculty will need to swipe their SFA ID card to access the building.  Event, service, and other updates due to ongoing issues related to COVID-19 are posted here.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate this unprecedented situation. You may find regular updates about the campus response to coronavirus and ways to protect yourself at http://sfasu.edu/life-at-sfa/health-safety/health-clinic/coronavirus.

The Library is Here to Help!

If you have any questions, please let us know, and we will reply as soon as we can.

For Faculty: Support for Online-Only Instruction

Remote Library Instruction
Librarians will offer virtual class instruction.  This will be through Zoom (live or recorded) and through our Research Guides.  You can request these services through our Request Library Instruction form.

Class Resources
The library's online resources (e-books, streaming videos, and articles) are available for you to link from D2L.  If there are materials that are not available electronically, please contact us through the Ask A Librarian service and we can help provide access to those materials.

Remote Access to the Library

The library has a rich collection of online information resources to support your research, including thousands of e-books and e-journals. You can access any of these information resources by logging in with your MySFA username and password.

BOOK AND ARTICLE DELIVERY

Need books and journal articles but can’t find them online?

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services allows you to request materials and articles not owned by the Steen Library and articles and book chapters from the library's print collection.

Submit requests for materials through our online system and the item will be delivered to your email account. This service is free and in most cases you can receive your item within 24 to 48 hours.

Remote Research Assistance

Ask a Librarian Services will be available. Students, staff, and faculty can e-mail, chat (during scheduled times; TBD), call, or schedule a Zoom session with a librarian.

Set-up a research consultation with a librarian (Telephone or Zoom).

We've recently added a text line: 936-241-4858.
